Getting Started

What is AI Auto Responder Light?
AI Auto Responder Light is a free WordPress plugin that automatically replies to Contact Form 7 messages using OpenAI’s GPT models.

Who is it for?
Businesses and site owners who want to provide instant, AI-powered replies to contact messages—without coding.

Requirements:

WordPress 5.8 or higher

PHP 7.4+

Contact Form 7 installed

OpenAI API Key

Installation

Step 1: Install Plugin

Go to Plugins → Add New

Click Upload Plugin

Choose the ZIP file and click Install Now

Activate the plugin

Step 2: Enter OpenAI API Key

Go to AI Auto Responder in your admin menu

Paste your OpenAI key (get it at https://platform.openai.com)

Save changes

Step 3: Add Business Description

Fill in details about your business: services, tone, pricing, etc.

AI uses this to personalize responses

Setup

Set Contact Form Type:

Select Contact Form 7 from the dropdown (Pro version supports more)

CF7 Fields Required:

your-name

your-email

your-message

Test the Setup:

Submit your CF7 form

Check the email inbox for the AI reply

How the AI Works

AI uses your business description and the form message to generate a custom reply

Free version uses gpt-3.5-turbo

Replies are saved in the Logs tab for review

Do I need an OpenAI API key?
Yes. It’s required to generate AI replies.

Troubleshooting

No reply email? → Check WordPress email setup (use SMTP plugin)

No logs? → Make sure the form was submitted with correct fields

API error? → Double-check your OpenAI key and usage limits
